Weightlifting has a section for under 13 year olds which concentrates on technical ability rather than how much weight is lifted. The technique is marked on points and the lifter can take the same weight on 3 consecutive turns if required....all technical points and total of all weights lifted are recorded. This method is to encourage coaches and lifters to be sensible in the training methods and weights that are attempted at competitions.
